THE SOCIABLE
What if your cup could talk? "The Sociable Table" is an interactive installation created for a bar or restaurant, that can do just that! For my senior capstone project, I was part of a team of designers and developers that created a table that helped force interaction between people. My role in this project was one of four designers who helped conceptualize the idea, design the aesthetic, as well as come up with the different interactions you can have with the table. With it's sleek, fun design and many ways you can interact with it, the Sociable Table creates a fun and entertaining environment for all.
PIXEL TV
For this project I had to develop an identity package for "Pixel TV" a New Media Design television network. This network is dedicated to sharing knowledge about the New Media Industry. It is serious and sophisticated in regards to content, but definitely a fun network to watch. It also covers a lot of different topics such as interactive design, development, motion graphics, advertising, education, and much more. To create this identity package I needed to design a commercial advertising the network, a lower third for the shows, and a bumper to show what is coming up next. My role was conceptualizing the idea, designing, and implementing each part of the identity package.
CONNECTIONS BOARD IPHONE APP
This was an exploratory project I worked on while cooping at the IBM Collaboration Lab. IBM's Lotus Connections is social software for the business environment, that aids in team collaboration. One of the main features is the Lotus Board, which allows you to communicate and update other people in your organization. We created a mobile application that utilizes the board, to allow users to be even more connected and informed, as well as be able to inform others. For this project I was in charge of creating user stories around this application, conceptualizing the features and functions of the application, and designing the overall look and feel of the application.
LIBBY'S KITCHEN
"Libby's Kitchen" is a fictional television show I came up with in my third year while taking Dynamic Typography. I created storyboards to come up with the concept and overall design of the title sequence for the show. Look back soon for a fully animated version of the title sequence!
STATE WEBSITE RE-DESIGN
This project was a re-design for a state government website. Using the existing navigation structure, and content, we had to re-design the look and feel for the homepage. I chose to do the website Maine.gov, creating a simpler more usable site, while keeping the same content on the homepage.
SKATMAN
This project I did in my third year, in my Dynamic Typography class. We had to choose a song, or a quote, and animate the words. I chose to animate the song "Skatman," a fun, upbeat song, that moves fast. For this project I conceptualized, designed, and animated the motion graphics piece, as well as edited the song. This project is currently in progress. Look back soon for the finished piece!
TOUCH SOMEONE'S HEART WITH DESIGN
In honor of Stefan Sagmeister visiting RIT, he issued us a design challenge, "can you touch someone's heart with design?" To approach this challenge I decided to create a list, similar to his famous list, of things I have learned in my life. One point that I made that stood out to me the most, and seemed to be a repeated theme in other points I made, was that everything you are and create, is influenced by things around you and experiences that you have. Since I have had an interest in stop motion animation, I wanted to experiment with it to illustrate my story. I wanted to make all significant things that were on my desk, move together to create something much bigger, and different than it's initial elements, literally showing that the bigger picture is made up of many smaller yet significant things from your life.
